Business Development Director Johnson Matthey, UK Hydrogen Delivery Council

Sam French is Business Development Director for Hydrogen Technologies at Johnson Matthey. In his role, Sam is responsible for developing the pipeline of new partners, customers and opportunities for growth.

 

Most recently, Sam led the Johnson Matthey team that agreed the long-term strategic partnership with Plug Power – a collaboration that will create volume and scale for green hydrogen and fuel cells. Previously, Sam led the development of Johnson Matthey’s strategy for low carbon hydrogen – both blue and green.

 

Johnson Matthey is a steering member of the Hydrogen Council and Sam sits on the Council’s Management Board. He is also a member of the UK Government Hydrogen Advisory Council, chaired the HAC work group 2020 Deployment Roadmap, is a member of the H2 View Editorial Advisory Board in addition to representing Johnson Matthey in a number of other organisations focused on solutions to decarbonisation.

 

Sam joined Johnson Matthey in 2004 and has held various roles throughout his tenure. After moving from R&D into business development, he was tasked with developing a portfolio of new opportunities for processes from new feedstocks, such as biomass, waste and renewable energy.

 

Sam has a PhD in Computational Chemistry from The Royal Institution of Great Britain. He is currently based in the UK.
